Global events have pushed the gold price in the United States and Australian dollar to record levels as the precious metal strengthens its position as a safe haven for investors.  The price broke the $2000 an ounce mark in the Australian currency for the first time ever on June 20 and has continued to rise, reaching another all-time high of $2050 yesterday.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have liftoff!  After breaking out of a five-year trading range, the price of gold surged above $1,400 an ounce last week for the first time since 2013 on expectations of a U.S. rate cut.  The 10-year Treasury yield fell to around 2 percent, its lowest level since November 2016.

Gold has reached Rs 80,500 per tola with the increase of Rs 1300 on Tuesday.  While the price of 10 gm gold touched Rs69,016 with the hike of Rs 1,115 here.  The increase in the prices at local market is witnessed after the gold hit $1429 with hike of $21 per ounce in the international market.

Gold prices are soaring in all currencies, breaching $1,400 an ounce in U.S. dollar terms and setting an all-time record of $2,010 in Australian dollars during the early Asian trading on Friday.  The yellow metal soared after the Federal Reserve kept rates steady on Wednesday but opened the door to rate cuts as soon as July by removing the word “patient” from its latest monetary policy statement.

Investors are piling into gold, sending the precious metal to a six-year high this week, and analysts think the commodity has established a “base” to go even higher.  The precious metal is up more than 9% this month, on pace for its best monthly performance since 2016.

The best and worst performing default funds for workplace pension schemes have been mapped, showing a return difference of 6 percentage points between them over the course of three years.  Financial information firm Defaqto disclosed the default fund performance of 24 pension providers across a one to five-year period, collecting data up to December 31, 2018.

Warren Buffett's firm Berkshire Hathaway has begun investing in Amazon for the first time, with Buffett admitting he has "been an idiot for not buying".  In an interview with CNBC, Buffett said an investment manager at Berkshire Hathaway had been buying into Amazon, likely to be one of his deputies, Todd Combs or Ted Weschler, who each manage equity portfolios with more than $13bn in assets under management.
